(Text behind cut for mention of bedbugs)Second spraying of the apartment was last Monday. Had only seen two bugs since the spraying two weeks earlier. Threw out box spring because it sat directly on the floor, replaced it with steel frame I assembled today which turned out to be a foot wider than our king-size mattress, but we’ll live with it. Mattress has been sealed in encasement since Christmas Eve, Orkin Man seems to think it’ll be ok. Vacuumed bedroom, mattress. Interceptors under all the legs of the bed frame to stop bugs climbing up. Duvet tumbled in dryer on high heat for forty minutes, as I’ve been doing to it each day for the past month-and-a-half.
Twenty minutes before bedtime saw a bug crawling on the wall of the bedroom.
Killed it, but am now resolved to sit up with the lights on for a few hours. Keep telling myself that even if there are still a few survivors living in the wall (their home base through this mess), the bed itself is fortified against them.
Infestations are basically like your apartment has cancer, and even if it goes into remission, you’re always nervously waiting.
