Albert Finney plays Maurice, a somehow-endearing absolute trash-fire of a man, who's trying to get his wife and his mistress to agree to a threesome, while not coping very well with the recent sudden death of his father, *and* he's being tempted by the ghost of an evil 17th-c alchemist that haunts the historic inn he runs, but everyone assumes his visions are just the DTs.
Also a gay atheist vicar, a drunken Cambridge boat crew with a taste for Andrew Lloyd Weber, and God all put in appearances.
