Today’s wasp count

10:48 am – first one sighted. I think she was inside the light fixture for a while, because I heard her bouncing around angrily inside it; then she must found a way out somehow. She’s currently on the glass wall but too high for me to capture.

11:34 -- caught the first one and as I did, noticed another one crawling on the carpet by the printer.

3:50 pm -- just escorted two more from the premises.

Well, they're going to send for pest-control on Monday.

Do you relocate or kill?

I'm always scared to rescue wasps, but also to kill them :( wasps are scary

I always worry that if I try to swat them I’ll miss, and then they’ll be angry. Trapping them with an empty coffee cup and a thick piece of paper is easy, as long as they’ve landed on the glass wall within my reach, and when I release them afterwards they’re usually too happy from the traces of sugar left in the coffee cup to try stinging, though I sometimes have to shake the cup hard to get them to leave it.

Did they come? Was there a big fiberglass roach on the roof of the van? Have to kill them bugs dead: especially wasps as they like to chew on wooden things, like the stuff holding up your ceilings, and clog up ventilation systems.

Our office periodically gets the Orkin Man. He is amazingly tall.

He didn’t come yesterday, but there were no live wasps around. Perhaps the rainier weather had dissuaded them. I did have to clear out about eight dead ones that had got in over the weekend.
