Power out in our building plus Andrew's dizzy spells means a night at St. Joe's listening to machines go ping. Nothing life-threatening, just want to know why. Also, the lights are on here.

I hope everything is ok
You guys got hit pretty hard I heard...not so bad here
Jon is supposed to come home tomorrow but I suppose that depends on whether the busses are running or not. Spent the day housecleaning on autopilot in preparation

Funny thing is that we never *heard* the storm while it was happening. Must have been one of those ninja ice storms.

I went home this morning to check on the cats and found the emergency generator has somehow managed to fail. Gritting my teeth, I borrowed a flashlight and climbed twenty-three flights of stairs. I may not have done those things in that exact order. In related news, I do not possess the ability to echolocate.

The apartment itself is retaining the heat so far, and I'll go feed them again and change their box this afternoon while there's still light coming through the windows. Fortunately, we only live a few blocks from the hospital and the streetcars are running.

It looks at the moment as though Andrew's problems involve his kidneys. He'll likely be here another two days, but then the power is going to be off at home for roughly the same length of time, so it may work out.

My parents are going to delay Xmas dinner until Boxing Day (they were planning to do so anyhow due to the weather), so for now, everything seems reasonably manageable.

Biggest pain right now is that the medical profession all seem to have been trained to discount anything the patient says: we keep explaining Andrew's neurological issues, they've found evidence that his kidney function is impaired, he has no history of real heart troubles but a long history of panic attacks, but he's a 51-year-old male so they just keep throwing cardiologists at him.

Ugh I hate the waiting part before a diagnosis. :(
Will be thinking of you both

Thanks. At least our building just got full power back so whenever he gets released he can come back to a fully-functioning apartment.

Oh good. At least you won't have to use the cats as portable heating devices :)
