So, last weekend I'd started another version of my standard dress, this time in a salmon-pink linen-y fabric I'd found at the thrift store. I added a collar made from some black-and-white plaid left over from Andrew's trousers, and I was going to do pockets with the facings in the same plaid. I decided to try and alter the bodice a bit from the pattern, because I thought in my earlier dresses there was a bit too much loose fabric across the bust, so I did a more fitted version, and then realized it was *really* hard to wriggle into because there was no ease at all, so I'm going to have to move the zipper from the side to the back so I don't have to pull the dress on over my head. Anyway, I am, for the moment, sick of it, so I decided to put it aside and do something completely different. In the $1.50/yd section at Dome Discount Fabrics yesterday, I found an end-bolt of purple rayon with a nice hand and drape, and I was able to try out the 20-minute dress. It actually took more than 20 minutes, because I wasn't starting with 4 pre-hemmed square scarves, but with the cutting and the hemming it probably only took about two hours, and it was all straight seams.

I decided to try something a bit different with the loose corners, and instead of just letting them hang, I tried pinning them to each other and securing each point with a few stitches.
