Stopped at the Zellers near my workplace yesterday, in hopes their pet department would have cedar shavings (we have moths in our apartment), but they only had pine. The search continues.

However, I did browse their yarn shelf – mostly acrylic of course, but there were a few kits left over from xmas (and therefore marked down) for making felted ornaments – the yarn was therefore 100% wool. I bought one for $3.50, which netted me a couple of small skeins (one red, on green) at what I figure is about half the price I’d normally pay. I’m trying a miniature fez from the red yarn – I’ve about four more rounds to go before casting off, and I’ve only used about a quarter of the skein. We’ll see how it looks after felting. The pattern is actually to make a fez for your cat, for the lulz, but I think a mini-fez would make a cute cocktail hat, possibly for Dr. Who-themed parties.

Really there's no occasion where a tiny Fez would be unsuitable.
I have a bunch of ...I suppose they're sort of mothballs, but they're wood. Dunno what sort of wood they are, though. Or in fact where they are now...but I think I did get them at Zellers.
At the time I got them 'cos Grandpa's legacy to me was an old dresser with King Tut deathmask drawer-pullers and it smelled a bit like the cleaner he always used to use.

Cedarwood balls – maybe I should have checked the storage and closet section at Zellers.

OMG, my family had a washstand with those handles! (apparently there was a bedstead in the same set, but it took some weird mattress size that no one makes anymore). I think ours came from the hotel in Rosseau that my grandfather used to own.

I got my huge stash of closet (in the sense of storage area, not clandestine) cedar gear at the old closet section of Eaton's. Zellers or Hudson's Bay might also have such sections now. You could also try that "Storage and Organisation" store just north of Eglinton and Yonge on the east side. I have lots of cedar balls in my off-site storage and the cool boxes with little compartments in the lids for them. You have to rasp them every six months or so to keep the cedar smell coming out.

Yes, that was where we found 'em, by the hangers and closet organizers & stuff.

Wow, no way! I know mum's told me repeatedly where she thinks Grandpa got the dresser but hell if I remember what it was she said. Nice dark wood, big mirror that swivels...I'll have to ask her again. lol.

OK, ours was sort of a yellowish wood. I was starting to wonder if we had the same grandfather (I wouldn't have put it past him) ; )
