Ad Astra report – just went in for the Saturday. Hotel is still set up to repel an armed force of disabled people, but noticed a lot of fans with chairs, mobility vehicles, etc. braving the terrible layout anyway. Green_trilobite seemed to manage the steps better than last year, probably because we simply didn't try to make that many panels. I did drag him to Chris Warlow and other propmakers talking about building stuff from junk.
Chizine spring launch party went well – all the readings were good; bought copies of Gemma's latest, and Dave Nickle's Eutopia,, which seems calculated to appeal to my interests. Peter Watts was lurking in the corner, wearing what theengineer pointed out was *not* a prop –a vital-signs-monitor/pus-drainage thingy (his leg is still healing after the flesh-eating incident – he has photos on his blog, very NSFW, and also not safe for your appetite).
I may have placed a $5 bill in the fishnet stocking of Chizine's operations manager…
The hex petal tee's hexagons have slightly too many stitches at cast-on to fit on my dpns. Dug out and repaired my smallest circular needle yesterday and am trying with that – hope it doesn't make the hexagon too big. I got two-thirds through a hexagon yesterday while watching Jason & the Argonauts, and Things to Come, and about halfway through The Last Days of Pompeii realized I'd cast on the wrong number of stitches and my hexagon was a pentagon. Had to unravel it and start again. Grr.
