I`m not sure I`m cruel enough to have them go off to see a sick family member, because they`re not going to make their destination (pirates!); maybe their foundation could demand that someone come back temporarily for a media blitz due to all the excitement over the Big Gay Squid, and they figure it`s better if the het scientists go so they won`t be accused of bias (I`d been imagining their world as post-homophobia, but I guess someone`s always willing to pull an ad hominem attack if nothing else works).
Oh hey – it`s about time Patrick chooses his loyalties – he could be the one to warn them his bosses aren`t above dirty tricks, now that he`s found signs of a possible mineral deposit!
