Last week, a newspaper photo I’d seen a few times on Tumblr came around again and this time, instead of just thinking “wow, discos were crazy in the ‘70s,” I got curious about Don Crown, the busker showing off his tame vulture to Keith Moon, Mick Avory, and the winner of the club’s go-go-dancing contest.
Googling his name and the word “vulture” revealed that he primarily worked with budgies, and that he only retired in 2009, when London cracked down on street performers.
Also he appears in a scene in the movie The Optimists (1973)
