Would You Consider A Sister Act?
Mar. 4th, 2020 10:17 amThanks to a link posted by sovay in this thread a while back, last night I finally watched Daughter of Shanghai (1938), which was everything promised, plus the following cute moment:
Scene—a sleazy waterfront bar in “Port O’Juan.”
DANCERS: (gyrate on a small stage at the front)
BARTENDERS: (leer appreciatively at the dancers)
VARIOUS CUSTOMERS: (leer appreciatively at the dancers)
A PET MONKEY: (leers appreciatively at the dancers)
I also liked Philip Ahn’s frequent looks of subtle bemusement – he was definitely a master of the “well this situation just got sixty percent weirder” slight eyebrow lift.
Andrew spotted Evil Buster Crabbe before I did (it was weird seeing him with a moustache), but then he’s good at playing Hey It’s That Guy!
