Can’t recall if I’ve brought this up before, but a year ago they found Kitec had been used in our building – if you’ve never heard of it, it was a type of piping used in the ‘oughts that turned out to break down after about fifteen years and was taken off the market. As it was still legal at the time Windermere-by-the-Lake was built, and wasn’t used in the common areas, we all have to pay for the replacement ourselves, though hiring plumbing engineers as a group probably saved a bit of trouble, and we may be able to get a little of the cost back from the class-action lawsuit.
Anyway, the main thing now is that plumbers are coming through our apartment at the end of this month; we’re renting one of the guest suites on the lower floors for a few days, and after a lot of attempts to contact the board, we got permission for the cats to stay in the guest suite as well so we don’t have to board them and they can be present to help keep Andrew on an even keel (I’m also taking a few days off work).
The task for the next seven days or so is clearing everything out of the kitchen and bathrooms and figuring out where else in the apartment we can store it. Oh, and packing bags for our stay on the third floor. I just wish it was Marie Kondo inspiring this and not repair work.
