Though the name doesn't roll trippingly off the tongue, it was an excellent first con - greentrilobite and I went in for the Saturday. The con suite was a small space, but with much better food than one usually gets - Catherine, Cally et al having taken advantage of the downtown location to get fresh bread and vegetables from the nearby St Lawrence Market and cheese from Kensington Market.

The cheap boning in my quick'n'dirty corset started buckling and digging into my ribs early on, but everyone commented favourably on my outfit. Bought a little feather fascinator in the dealer's room to clip next to my goggles. Met the Nielsen-Haydens, who in person are remarkably like their online selves. greentrilobite had a great time talking with Teresa about Keith Giffen.

Room parties that evening included the 20th anniversary of Convalescence - now with cups that don't melt under the Romulan ale - and one that spilled into the hall where various people were writing fandom fortune-cookie sayings on a series of papers tacked to the wall:

'Fortune cookies are people! They're people!'

'I know where my towel is - and it's still not a costume.'
