Woah! Queen & Bathurst is on fire!

They're saying on the news they got everyone out, but I imagine Suspect Video, Kathedral, the Big Bop etc are gone. Not sure about the Burroughs building. Cause as yet unreported.

Streetcar routes are going to be messed up *all day*.

ADD - Suspect is gone - I'm not sure about Kathedral, it's further over. The City-News people mentioned a rumour a few minutes ago that this one was spotted by some drunks who were in the middle of arguing with some cops when one of them suddenly said, "uh, there's smoke coming out of that building over there..."


I also can't help but suspect someone may have set this one - that's a pretty prime block of real estate, and it was full of hundred-year-old houses and commercial buildings. A month later and there would have been police cameras up in the area.

The fire is now under control. Bakka Books, further down the street is ok. It looks like the Burroughs building is still standing, but I don't know in what condition. City News says they will be interviewing business owners later, and that one had no insurance at all. I'm guessing it's Abraham Shalehchi.

Dear Annoying People in the Cameraphone Commercial:

OK, I'll force myself to accept your ad's premise that constantly snapping pictures of your companions and posting them instantly on Facebook with "hilarious" comments is friendly teasing and not cyber-bullying. But seriously, yo - if you keep taking distracting flash photos of the guy who is driving the car, you're going to wind up using your snazzy phones to dial 911; or at least the local cab company, after your friend gets fed up and boots you to the curb in the middle of nowhere.
