Jun. 5th, 2007 12:23 pmMom-in-Law seemed a little better as of last night, but her sense of direction and, I think, her hand-eye coordination are a bit off. Since all medical personal involved insist the pills she took shouldn't have done much to her, I'm wondering if this was caused by stress caused by the incident, or if these symptoms had already been present and we've just started observing more closely. green_trilobite's going to get her another assessment (I'm a little worried a minor stroke might have been involved, as it seems to me most of the awareness problems are on her right side); in the meantime, we spent yesterday rearranging the apartment (which we should have done anyway), installing a seat with handles on the toilet in the little bathroom which is now dedicated to her (the big bathroom not only has a long walk from the door to the commode, but she kept grabbing the toiletpaper holder to steady herself, and it finally pulled out of the wall). She can hold cups without apparent difficulty, but forks and spoons either drift offside, or she leaves the utensil in the bowl and mimes lifting it to her mouth, so I'm switching to drinkable soups and finger foods (sandwiches cut small).
ETA: Also I took some time yesterday to set up a collection of real and fake potted plants out on my tiny Juliet balcony. This cheered me up. Right now in Toronto, the heat is just starting to close in (well, not today, because it's raining), but every front yard and every patch of weeds is super lush and green, and I wanted some of that for myself.
