Sam's is closing. I'm surprised only one of the commenters on the Star's website blames illegal downloading - I think that for a cd store, downloading music at all, legally or illegally, would have spelled doom. There's less trade in hard-copies of music these days. Sniderman vows the brand will carry on in some form - maybe online, or as a music producer. It might be cool if they became a producer selling their own catalogue of Canadian/obscure music through download. As the owner points out, Sam's is one of the most recognizable names in the Canadian record industry.
