Yesterday I noticed posters advertising a magazine called Scoop, which I take to be a The-Onion-style parody of People magazine and other celebrity-watching journals. At least I hope it's a parody, with quotes like this:

"She's shocked, of course, but right now she needs to focus on taking care of her two children, and recovering from her full-body liposuction face-lift...."

Oh good lord ,apparently it's not a joke....

In related news, is it my imagination or have the tabloids, in the last couple of years, become really obsessed with trying to guess which actresses are pregnant? It seems like the minute after a female celebrity is spotted in conversation with a male celebrity, the paparazzi begin scanning her midriff like it's the back of George Bush's jacket during a televised debate. Is this motivated by prudish glee (Aha! evidence she had sex!) or grandparent cravings (We demand that you produce celebrity-babies for us to coo over!)? At any rate, the cute-isms they use to write about maternity, were I pregnant, would tempt me to offset my contribution to the population crisis by removing said journalists from the gene pool with heavy ordinance.
