S.A.R.A.H.: Synthetic Artificial Rational Assassination Humanoid
Shouldn't that be "Synthetic/Artificial (Redundant) Assassination Humanoid?

City-TV, or whatever it's calling itself these days, annoyed me last night by running what I at first thought was going to be an antidote to all those fear/guilt-mongering obesity-epidemic stories everyone's been doing lately: they profiled a woman who, although what most of society would consider about 100 lb (?!) overweight (their number - she sure didn't look it), work out frequently, does a huge amount of cardio and kickboxing - basically she was probably in better shape than the journalist interviewing her, and could probably have bench-pressed her as well. They even spoke to a doctor who said, "yes it's possible for fat and fitness to be compatible.È

And then - they asked, "so what's she doing wrong, that she can't lose the extra weight even though she's exercising?" They're going to follow her for the next few weeks as she tinkers with her diet and excercise routine trying to lose weight, 'cos, you know, actually being healthy doesn't count for anything, apparently.

I don't know - maybe I'm just being arrogant here - I mean if she is really unhappy with her size I'm the last person to tell her to be happy with it for the sake of fat-acceptance politics. It's just it seemed like it was going to be a positive story.

Hm - I'd like to see them try telling Lynn Cox (world-class marathon swimmer) that she's doing something wrong, except that what I've read in interviews suggests she's a very polite person who probably wouldn't bite their heads off in reply...

In other news, the cats are in détente.
