Watching the latest Dr. Who, I found myself thinking, "wow, there's so much Doctor/Dalek emotional baggage you could write slash about it." Then I went and disinfected my brain.

This was my second day at the new job - I was going to not name the company in case I accidentally broke some confidentiality agreement, but I figure any company that encourages its employees to post bios of their pets on its website (check out the psycho fish) won't mind being blogged about. As it turns out, Kat works there as well as Janet, so it seems a friendly enough place. I think over the next few days I'll be expected to develop my phone manner and learn to ask leading questions, then learn to do it in French.

On the way home, I noticed on the back of an Arab-English newspaper the words, "Have your money ready - the Soup Nazi is going franchise." The things you learn from glancing over strangers' shoulders - apparently the Seinfeld character (who I've never even seen, only heard about) is based upon a real, famously grumpy New York chef, who has now opened a chain (with his dour face glowering on the signs, by the looks of it). Inside the paper was a picture of Louis Riel, but it had no English caption, so I'll never know what that was about.
