Spent New Year's Eve watching old movie serials - finished Drums of Fu Manchu (hey kids! see if you can spot the two actual Asian actors*) and saw most of Buck Rogers:

Wilma Deering was cool, Buddy was way slashy vis-a-vis Buck, Buster Crabbe looked better with his natural hair colour (as opposed to the bleach job they gave him for Flash Gordon), Philson Ahn was pretty good as Prince Tallen but not as cool as his brother Philip Ahn* (evidently the Ahn family really liked the name Phil),

*who incidentally was one of the two actual Asians in Drums of Fu Manchu (he was Dr. Cheng, who gets put in an elaborate death device involving counterweights and a crossbow, but who still refuses to tell Fu Manchu where the Kardak Segment is hidden).

Dude!

Watched some Flash Gordon today. Much prettier spaceships than Buck Rogers - Also Ming the Merciless (Charles Middleton) is a fun villain - I mean, he's installed some kind of motors in his planet so he can drive it around the galaxy and smash other planets.
