Jul. 4th, 2004 08:28 pmMy mother called today and mentioned the guy who came to Toronto to randomly shoot people, but reconsidered and turned himself in after a friendly dog came up to him. Apparently he came from near our town in New Brunswick, and when they showed his picture on the news, Dad recognised him as someone they'd had a brush with last summer: they'd been picknicking by the shore, and his dogs had gone after their food; when they shooed them away, he came up and yelled or glowered or something (evidently he likes dogs a lot). Mom was a bit shaken by the thought he might have freaked and attacked them then and there.
I've been discovering lately how much better knitting is when you use an actual pattern. I made two kittycat balaclavas for adage1's due-in-September baby. We don't know the sex yet, and any kid of hers would probably eschew pastels anyhow, so I made one in black (very Batman/Catwoman) and one in multicoloured stripes. Right now I'm trying to devise a pair of lacy fingerless mittens for myself, in a sort of feather-and-fan pattern.
