This morning, while I was perusing a website dedicated to Hurricane Hazel, its effects on Toronto*, we had our third fire alarm and the second one in a week. By now we've got into the routine of caging the cats, etc, and then sitting tight for the concierge to come on the intercom and tell us "it's a false alarm" or "the building really is on fire this time, get down here." As before it turned out to be a loose connection in the sprinkler system. However, the rest of the day made up for things - the weather was good, green_trilobite's original Eisener page arrived, and my old workplace is taking me back for the summer, so I've got employment lined up for four months.

*I walked home through High Park after some morning errands, and began thinking about the Humber River park system a few blocks further west, which exists because the city expropriated what were once residential neighbourhoods after discovering, the hard way, that the area is a flood plain.
