Paintings

Taking a vacation day today, so I've spent the weekend getting back to my paintings:

Here's a couple of self-portraits based on this photo and on this.

Did some more work on this painting

and some on this one.

O hey, I didn't know you painted.
You've got a lot more control over them than I do ^_^

Been practicing for a while. Also spent a fair bit of time in art school, a decade ago.

My only training out of highschool came from a weirdo called Vandermeer. All I remember is he kept pet ferrets in his studio.

What are ferrets actually like? I've never had much experience with them.

"Weird" would be the word I'd use, I think. Mostly he kept them in another room when students were in but they had little harnesses on for easy leash attachment and they'd go by every once in a while, being ferrety and going about their little ferrety business.
I love rodents of pretty much all types (I mortally embarrassed my friend Stevie once, cos I got excited about seeing rats down in the Toronto subway), so it was neat being around the little guys.

Not so keen on the TO rat population (other than tame ones), but I like the subway mice.

I knew someone once who had a pet Big Brown bat - not a rodent, of course, but extremely cool. If it weren't for the fear of rabies (hers had been a research specimen and she knew it was clean) I suspect they'd be popular pets - Cassandra was surprisingly docile and liked to cling to April's shoulder or snuggle up in her shirt pocket; also she had super-soft fur.

Bats are awesome. Lol. I love their scrunchy little faces. <3

*pointing and speaking too loudly*. "Stevie, there are rats down there!!!!"
"Oh, for christ's sake. I don't know you."

Somebody once commented that Cassandra had a head "like a tiny heraldic boar."
