Things I Should Have Written Down During the Night

Lying awake, I started thinking about mini-goncharovs— stories by single authors that create movies that don’t exist in reality. I’m sure I listed four, but at the moment I can only recall three:

Hyperboloids of Wondrous Light

The King In Yellow (1949)

You’re Wrong About Misericorde

And I can think of at least one pseudomusical work, from “A Deskful of Girls” (1958) by Fritz Leiber: “The Ghostgirls’ Pavane”, a magically dangerous and therefore suppressed number from the Nutcracker Suite:

I mean, it is appropriate for those things to be elusive. Also, thank you!

Well, Goncharov wasn't by a single author.

There is, of course, Night Beats, but it's not a movie and not by a single author.

Weirdly late commenter says
