In an upcoming scene (was was actually one of the first bits I wrote), I as much as admit that the logistics of Dennis’ ghostly existence aren’t particularly consistent. I think they operate on LooneyTunes physics, plus the rule of “Does it look cool and atmospheric?/Would the SFX team have fun making it happen?”

The thing with Ghostbusters is that yes, that’s the logic the effects team followed— meanwhile at least one of the scriptwriters was clearly working off of old Weird Tales issues and full-on early 20th-c occultism. The scene in the jail, where Egon starts telling them about the blueprints and Ivo Shandor’s career, is still deliciously shuddersome.
