I am delighted by this Twitter thread of people who have just discovered the paintings of Alex Colville and are amazed by their resemblance to video-game graphics from 12-15 years ago.

Yeah, I’ve always loved that one for the Anubis vibe.

That makes sense. It's always looked somehow psychopomp-ish to me.

(Insofar as I know Colville's work well enough to have a favorite, Dog and Priest is it.)
