Landscaping Report

The grass was so yellow this morning as I looked out the bus window. Just a few green patches where the so-called weeds are faring better, or where trees or buildings had cast some shade. Some private lawns had evidently had the benefit of sprinklers or hoses.

It doesn’t feel like that long since the last rain, but I guess it has been a couple of weeks, and the temperatures have been high.

Last Friday and Saturday poured here at Christie and Dupont, and the Wednesday before had a monsoon thunderstorm deluge. The grass is still yellow though.

There may be landscaping cutbacks but there are certainly none in the Tearing Up Streets Dep't, so I'm inclined to doubt it. Blame that hot hot sun. Or perhaps several dry weeks before this drying out the soil so the monsoons just ran off it?
