What’s your opinion on extreme primitive dolls?

(a) I like them.
(b) I don’t like them.
(c) The whole concept of making fake antique folk art is weird.
(d) Uh-oh, looks like Goody Elspeth’s been hexing the neighbours again.

Um...is "fuckacreepy" an option? I can see liking them, not liking them, and also being scared to death of them, in other words.

That particular one doesn't do anything for me, but if people are having fun making them and other people like getting them....

I don't like them. I thought that the whole point of being a doll is to have a creepily perfect complexion. Time enough for friends with that level of acne when you're a teenager.

A. But you know I love dolls...the idea of "antiquing" some thing is a tiny bit odd...but I do enjoy the primitive genre - mostly in bears/rabbits/monkeys.

Yeah, the animals are less creepy (this is also true of folk art generally IMHO).

Seems sorta like sculpture with a different medium, to me...it'd actually seem weirder to me if there were set rules about what a doll could be.

On a side note, mum sent me a link that went to this site , tonight: they take submitted children's drawings and turn the pictured characters into dolls. And they're all hilarious. :D
