Lunchroom folklore

Today’s debate was over whether miscarriages are caused by ghosts or by curses. Eventually this led to someone arguing from the Bible that there’s no such thing as ghosts (i.e., souls are not permitted to walk the earth after death), and someone in pro-ghost faction told not to take the book so literally.

I don’t know if my own life is normal or weird by comparison.

Interesting pair of choices... and I like the term "pro-ghost faction".

The guy in charge of receiving had been expressing his opinion that the factory floor was haunted, offering as evidence the fact that several women working there had had miscarriages over the last couple of years; however the consensus at the table seemed to be that miscarriages are caused by curses sent by one's enemies.

Good god, were any of the women who actually suffered miscarriages present at the discussion?
'Oh hi, Brenda, we were just wondering if you lost your baby because of a malicious haunting, or a curse sent by your enemy. What do you think?'

No, they have their own lunch room (the factory I mean, not everyone who's had a miscarriage.)

It still seems kind of insensitive, though.
That and downright loony-toons; do they blame witches if the coffee tastes funny?

No, I think they only suspect the supernatural when there’s no obvious explanation; or when it’s something bad enough that it’s more comforting to think somebody’s to blame than this stuff just happens.

OK, today the lunchtime talk at one point turned to the web as information source, and someone said “Yeah, you can even find a video showing you how to insert a catheter.” Everyone looked at her, wondering why she’d need to know this. “Well, I saw an ad for portable catheters on tv, and they said you could send away for free samples. But I wondered why I’d need one.”

“That’s like, a medical device, for people who have kidney problems and stuff.”

“I thought it’d be really useful for when you go camping.”
