Apparently what I always thought was a homburg is in fact a trilby; so what’s the name for that stupid hat Inspecteur Clousseau wears? I always thought *that* was a trilby.

If it isn't, the only other thing I can find that might be correct is a 'downturn'.
Whatever it is I think it's the same sort of thing that Indy's dad wore in the Last Crusade...so all we have to do is ask Sean Connery. :D

It *is* a Trilby, albeit an odd one. The Trilby is defined by the shape of the dent in the top, which Clouseau's has - barely. The brim can tilt up or down, although up is more common. If you look for "Inspector Clouseau Hats" at the on-line hat stores they're always in the Trilby section.
