OK, this is pretty interesting, whichever way you look at it

I do wish the article had gone more into Dr. Barker’s own history – I felt like the author kept hinting that he’d had some trauma and/or possibly-supernatural experience early in his own life, which sparked his interest in the paranormal alongside the medical, but never really spelled anything out; although witnessing the Blitz might have been enough.

(Also I still feel like the prevalence of sudden nocturnal death among Hmong men, which the article mentions in passing, was more likely genetic than cultural)
