New Yorker Cartoons

https://www.newyorker.com/video/watch/how-to-write-a-new-yorker-cartoon-caption-jon-hamm-edition

This appears to be part of a series in which various celebrities contribute captions, but this one’s all the funnier to me as I never watched Mad Men and have only ever seen Hamm as the Archangel Fucking Gabriel in Good Omens:

“Hey there fellow humans! I, John Hamm, definitely a human, definitely from St. Louis, and not at all an otherworldly being who modelled its appearance on a slightly grainy photo of Cary Grant, will now explain the situations in these drawings and why they’re funny.”

Dream Report

A mention of Scooby-Doo suddenly reminded me that my dreams last night involved a tall lanky guy who, the dream explained, was the inspiration for the character of Shaggy, and who was always paired with the dog in the cartoon because he actually *was* a brilliant animal trainer in real life.

Arn Saba, "Summer of '77"

Archival video of a CBC talk show that commissioned Neil the Horse creator Arn Saba to draw them a strip and interviewed him just before the deadline. Poor guy finishes the strip, but the tv footage is too grainy to get a good look at it; he starts to read it out loud (and it seems to be a mercilessly accurate spoof of the show) but only gets halfway through before the show ends.
