I've been notified once and then drawn a few months later....in one of the few times I'd imagine one could ever start a sentence with "Fortunately I had a recently-diagnosed heart condition".....fortunately, I'd had a recently diagnosed heart condition which when explained to the judge and....other fellows, was immediately accepted as a reason to excuse me. The thing was though that with this particular condition, it's anxiety that sets it off (it was ribcage fireworks when I got the notice)...so I dunno, maybe if green_trilobite had a doctor's note or something and you explained about his anxiety? They were dead nice about it in my case although I'd imagine that was probably because I looked like I was nervous enough to keel over on the spot....
