Sleepwalking

Himself claims that last night, he woke up and asked for something cold to drink, and that I got up and took a plate from the kitchen, showed him the pattern of crumbs upon it, and said, "this will help with the security system." The funny thing is I dimly recall this incident too - from my POV I kept trying to tell him something and he kept insisting it didn't make sense, but can no longer identify the underlying dream logic. What did I think the plate was?

We do that in my family, too. (I don't; I just kick and have delayed sleep-phase syndrome and insomnia, but you'll have that) I remember, growing up, at least three different instances where I'd have to wake my mom up for something and we'd have a conversation that went like this:
"Mom, s'time to wake up."
"gzfm, Amy..."
"What?"
(clearly and seemingly fully awake) "I said, did you feed the ducks?"
"No."
"Why not? I told you to feed the ducks."
"I didn't do it because we don't have ducks."
"What? Just go take care of them, will you? They're probably starving."

My sister, on the other hand, will occasionally have dreams in German, and answer questions (Where are the scissors?) in German...

...do you have a security system?

No.

The thing is, it's usually Himself who talks in his sleep - his new meds seem to have dampened that down, but when insomniac, I used to derive a great deal of entertainment from listening in on his dreams - I even tried drawing a comic strip of one that involved Orson Welles in the Land of Oz.

Ah. Well, perhaps the plate held the solution to creating a security system. Although, I'd be inclined to just *throw* the plate at a burglar, but you'll have that in my family too. 8)

Orson...Welles. In the Land of Oz.
Y'know, come to think, I can kind of imagine him as the Wizard, but almost anywhere else... wow. I'd like to see that comic strip.

Naw, he was Dorothy, basically.

Also the flying monkeys? were The Monkees.
