Rabbit Rabbit

Saw a magazine about weaponry with a headline that included the word “Sturmgewehr.” Couldn’t help but think “This is my sturmgewehr. It gewehrs sturms,” although according to Know Your Meme, that’s basically already been done with a Flammenwerfer parody showing an old photo of a GI saying “This is my machine gun. It guns machines.”

Also, according to Know Your Meme, “Hans, get the flammenwerfer” is a popular neo-nazi response to pretty much anything, which makes the entire meme less funny.

(Also, I’m still unsure how I feel about working in a place that has weaponry catalogues and magazines around; but since I don’t actually disagree with countries being allowed to have military, being squeamish about working for a place that manufactures riflescopes is sort of hypocritical – it’s saying “I’m ok with these things existing, I just don’t want to see them or know where they come from.”)

I’m still wary about describing my job to the people I go out and protest with, though; I fear that someone will glare at me and declare that I Can’t Be trusted.

One Annoying Thing, One Good Thing, and One Crazy Thing:

The restaurant around the corner from my workplace has changed their curry recipe to be much spicier. I can never deal with spicy things – it’s not even the heat. It’s that for some reason my tastebuds register spice as intensely bitter. Do other people get this?

Rewatched Rear Window last night. Checking AO3 today, found a Yuletide fic from a few years ago that retells the story from the PoV of Miss Lonelyhearts and the Songwriter: https://archiveofourown.org/works/292692

Also from AO3: Indiana Jones/The Mummy crossovers aren’t surprising; Indiana Jones/Marvel Universe crossovers make sense in terms of Steve being roughly contemporaneous with Indy; but I never expected to see an Indiana Jones/A la Recherche des Temps Perdus crossover (in French, at that): https://archiveofourown.org/works/8330890

The author admits the timeline had to be stretched a little. Alas, it’s only a vignette, or a first chapter to an adventure never expanded upon.
