(no subject)

I keep getting this slashy vibe off two of my co-workers, but I suspect it may be due to my unfamiliarity with the ways of non-geek guys – it’s possible that for mainstream het men, discussing the finer points of their workout routines is much like comparing computer setups and is not perceived by them as erotic at all. Any thoughts?

Is it just me, or is everyone else in this office obsessed with food?

So, the other departments are still dieting, and beginning to get edgy. My department had some coupons for A&W, and today being Friday, had someone go out and bring back burgers. I spent all lunch feeling uncomfortable as the woman next to us, normally aimiable and level-headed, kept up a constant stream of snark about how it must be nice to have fast metabolisms/free time to exercise, and how we were going to stink of fried food all afternoon; all this in a sort-of-joking-but-not tone. Meanwhile the guy who brought cheesecake last week either is oblivious to the reactions he’s causing or is doing it on purpose in some sort of retaliation against the dieters; today he brought a small apple pie, but didn’t realize it was unbaked, so he’s been heating it in the toaster oven as everyone else drools resentfully. This is starting to get weird in my view.
