Oh $%^&! Grr Arrgh
Dec. 3rd, 2007 11:33 amOK, so about a month ago we visited green_trilobite's mother in the home and noticed her dentures were missing. We have been calling them every few days ever since and asking the staff if they've managed to find them - whoever we talk usually seems to have not noticed, and when pressed finds the upper plate at the front desk where it's being held for safekeeping, then tells us to talk to management. In the meantime she's been in hospital with a bladder infection for the past week and has been tormenting the poor nurses there with demands for her teeth. Today we finally got one of Versacare's higher-ups on the phone who said blandly reassuring things to me, but under questioning from green_trilobite claimed that the home is not responsible for "lost valuables," and that their definition of "valuables" includes dentures (and presumably other prosthetics - I guess we're just lucky she doesn't have a glass eye or anything).
Anyway, green_trilobite's talked to provincial services and they may sic an ombudsman or something on them, so we feel a little better, but seriously, wtf?!
